My own experience has been joining one MLM just to go from meetings to meetings listening to top earners who never give away anything of value to help you develop your business. Yet they claim you could be as successful if you work just as hard as them.
Then comes the great need to get people to duplicate your efforts. My thoughts were, well how can I accomplish this if I am struggling myself. I would not want to join me! No matter what, work you’re natural or warm market they will say, buy leads and cold calling and keep your chin up.
There are publicized reports that MLM are portrayed as pyramids or scams, after a few uplines are complete they crash and those just getting in will lose out and never reach their dreams. Not to mention the lack of ongoing professional training to develop people to sustain a long presence in this business.
The pitch is the company has got a killer product that everybody wants, so if you’re not doing well then there is something going on with you.
Every industry, profession or business model has it challenges or draw backs. A lot of people do not like Lawyers, because a lot of people do not understand the law, others do not like religion because of a bad experience or restriction. I can go on and on about these things that we do not like but continue to do every day.
Well I believe the MLM has its black eye for the same reasons, most people got involved into MLM not really understanding what it was all about. Yeah, people joined people who could not and did not offer any training on how to develop the person nor, the up line or the business. Really I am not being critical here just recognizing that people do better when they know better. So MLM is not just a product, uplines and money. It requires openness to coaching and development, commitment, providing value and making a difference in the lives of people, communities and the world.
Despite the negative cloud of these professions Lawyers do serve the public and churches provide soap kitchens, shelters for battered women and children. There is a flip side to everything and it starts with you what you bring to the process. The late vocal artist Fela Kuti wrote a song called “Water Has No Enemy” and the lyrics start of by sharing all the great things water can do, then he states “if water kills your child, its water you going to use”. The point I am making here is if you got involved in a MLM and it killed your dreams.

Many Marketers make the fatal mistake of advancing to close or selling the product or opportunity. First off the prospect doesn't know you and right away can sense that you are trying to sell them something. Always communicate from a genuine place, be polite and relax. I know it's not easy when you have no signups and you are dying to get one. Remember you don't want just anyone on your team. You are looking for people who are successful already, drive, able to be teachable and coach-able.
Think of yourself interviewing the prospect to see if this person has the qualification to join your team. YOU DON'T WANT DEAD WEIGHT IN YOUR ORGANIZATION.
So when you are speaking your prospect,be patient. You want to find out as much as you can about the prospect so you can help them.
1. Introduction Phase - Always introduce yourself and let the prospect know why you are calling. Ask how are they doing and if you called at a bad time.
2. Establish Rapport- find out where they live, what they do for a living, how did they land on your site and what where they looking for? Ask open ended questions to get as much information as possible. You want to find out their problem so that you can provide them with the solution.
3. Fact Finding- Continue to ask questions like, how long you have been at ABC Company? How do you feel the internet will help your business opportunity? Stay in control of the conversation. You are the leader.
4. Close- Direct the prospect to your website. Instruct them on what to do and where to go until the sign up is done. Remind them of their pain. Don't leave it up to the prospect to sign up. In must cases they won't. Don't make that crucial mistake and hung up before they sign up.
These are the 4 simple Phases that you must pass through to be successful in signing up your leads. These are the kinds of strategies I teach my team . Practice daily and you will see results. I have watched my wife Daria work very hard on this internet business over the past 6 months or more. She was coming to bed late and the like, but I had my educational goals to pursue so I needed to stick with that. I know that she did a lot of research and the one thing that stood out about this business was the support and training she was able to tap into. So I continue to watch from afar and watch her grow and develop her business IQ.It seems as if she was learning or doing something different every other week, then she mentioned the "Live the Dream II" weekend in Orlando. I love my wife dearly so I thought it not a crime to support her dream in a Disney property in Orlando, when I could be in the pool somewhere enjoying myself while she attended the event. Well I did my part in looking forward to the trip and bigging her up for the event in the coming weeks.
Well, we flew out of New York and landed in Orlando at 11 pm and got to our room about 12am ordered pizza and went to bed about 2:45. We got up at 6am to start the day. I though about how was I going to be present during the event with no interest and 3 hours of sleep. My wife being the genius she is bought along the trip 3 bottles of 5 hour energy. That morning I was ready to tell I needed to sleep a little more and I will meet her there later and decided against it. So we went downstairs and looked around the resort as we made our way towards the registration area and they did not have a name tag for the spouses. Anyhow we went to get some breakfast enjoy another great moment together, then it was time to experience what we were here to do. The music started playing and they were pumping us up and they were revving the crowd for the first speaker to my surprise was Tony Robbins son Jairek Robbins, which by the way I never knew that Tony had a son that was doing his work in his own way. I had experience his dad live many years ago and bought one of his many CD series on personal development and it served me well. Jairek was very good and got the crowd of about 600 or so people pumped up. Then they brought on this guy named Tim Erway whom I never heard of but my wife was similar with him and after he was done speaking I was moved. Then speaker after speaker shared their stories and I began to recognize that they were telling my own story of good intention hard work that mushroomed into failures. How these failures groomed them into the entrepreneurs they are now.
All of the sharing of their success, methods and routines openly was definitely NOT an experience I had when I was in the corporate world selling for NY Life, Washington Mutual, Home Depot, Time Warner Cable and others. During each break the speakers were available for questions and except for Jairek most the of the speakers came through the ranks. The encouragement from the founders of MLSP to crowd to network with each other and I met some of the persons my wife had been communicating with, learning from and they were all wonderful human beings. I do understand that this is what happens at these kinds of functions, but this was different. I was moved to action by Mr. Ray Higdon, his story was powerful, but his presentation was even more powerful to me and many others because when he was done myself and about 100 people brought his materials.
All said and done I went to Orlando to support my wife for the weekend and flew back to New York a partner declaring for myself that I am a Leader, I am BOLD, and I am KICKASS BAD!!! By the way I never got use any of the 5 hour energy.
